The Static Synchronous Condenser (E-STATCOM) is one of the Sieyuan grid-forming series equipments which is based on MMC topology, with supercapacitors on the DC side . With the growing penetration of the new energy integrated into the new-type power system, such as high proportion of Renewable Energy and high proportion of Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs), it leads to three major challenges:

E-STATCOM provides reactive power support and inertia support functions for the power grid, which can effectively solve the power quality problems faced in the new-type power systems.With the self-developed advanced grid-forming control algorithm, the E-STATCOM can perfectly cover all the functions of traditional rotating Synchronous Condenser , such as faster transient response, more controllable and stable voltage and frequency regulation, smarter and more economic. Furthermore, the E-STATCOM can even provide extensible functions such as broadband oscillation damping, impedance reshaping, and active power filtering.
